The essentials in 30 seconds

  • For businesses only.The service is for SMEs registered in Cameroon, not for individuals.
  • You confirm knowing the price.Rate, fees and estimated date are shown before each payment.
  • One invoice per payment.Each payment must match a genuine supplier invoice.
  • 48 h is a target, not a commitment.Checks or intermediary banks can extend the timeframe.

1. Purpose and acceptance

These terms apply to anyone who visits the kontilo.com website and to any company that uses the Kontilo service. By requesting access or opening an account, you accept them on behalf of your company and confirm that you are authorised to bind it.

Specific terms, signed when the account is opened, may supplement this text. In the event of a difference, the specific terms prevail.

2. Who provides the service

The service is provided by KONTILO SARL, a limited liability company with share capital of 100 000 FCFA, RCCM CM-DLA-01-2025-B12-00966, NIU M072517870171G, Bastos, lieu-dit Résidence de l’ambassadeur de Centrafrique, Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Kontilo is a fintech, not a bank. KONTILO SARL is neither a credit institution nor a licensed payment institution, and does not hold a payment account in your name. You pay for each payment by transfer into the bank account of KONTILO SARL held at CCA Bank (Crédit Communautaire d’Afrique); Kontilo then carries out the conversion and sending abroad with its payment partners, checks each file and reports back to you at every step.

3. Access and account opening

During the private beta, the service is open by invitation to companies registered in Cameroon with an RCCM and a NIU. It is not open to individuals.

Before your first payment, we verify your company, its directors and its beneficial owners. You undertake to provide accurate information and to tell us about any change (directors, shareholders, activity, contact details). We may refuse to open an account without giving reasons where the law prohibits us from doing so.

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for actions carried out from your account. Tell us immediately if you notice suspicious access.

4. How a payment works

  1. Instruction. You specify the supplier, their bank, the amount, the currency and the purpose of the purchase, and attach the supplier’s invoice or proforma invoice.
  2. Kontilo invoice. We send you an invoice showing the exchange rate, our fees, the amount the supplier will receive and the estimated arrival date. It is valid for 2 days, or until the deadline on the supplier’s invoice if that is sooner.
  3. Transfer. After your confirmation, you transfer the amount in FCFA into the bank account of KONTILO SARL at CCA Bank, quoting the invoice reference.
  4. Execution. Once the funds are received and our checks are complete, we start the conversion and sending to the supplier.
  5. Certificate. You follow each step and receive a certificate of execution when the payment has been made.

CEMAC exchange control regulations require every transfer abroad to be justified: without valid supporting documents, the payment cannot be carried out.

Our target is a payment executed within 48 hours or less of receiving your funds. This timeframe is indicative: additional checks, public holidays or intermediary banks may extend it.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the supplier’s details. A payment sent to incorrect details that you provided may be impossible to recover.

5. Rates and fees

Our remuneration consists of a margin on the exchange rate and, where applicable, transfer fees. Both appear on the invoice you confirm before any transfer: no other Kontilo fee is added afterwards. As an indication, our fees amount to 2% of the amount sent; the exact amount appears on each invoice you confirm.

For payments in euros, conversion is at the fixed peg of €1 = 655.957 FCFA; our fees are added to this amount. The supplier’s bank may deduct its own fees on receipt, depending on the corridor (Europe, Asia, the Americas).

6. Cancellation and refund

  • Before your funds are converted, you can cancel a payment: we refund you in FCFA, less any bank fees already incurred.
  • Once conversion has started, cancellation may no longer be possible: the payment may be irreversible depending on the supplier’s bank and the currency.
  • If a payment is rejected by the supplier’s bank or blocked following our checks, we inform you and generally refund you within 4 working days, unless the law requires us to retain the funds.

7. Your commitments

You undertake to:

  • use Kontilo only to pay for genuine purchases by your company, backed by an invoice;
  • not use the service for an illegal activity or one on our list of excluded activities, provided when the account is opened;
  • not pay persons, entities or countries targeted by international sanctions;
  • respond to our requests for supporting documents within a reasonable time.

8. Compliance and checks

Like our partners, we are subject to CEMAC regulations on combating money laundering and terrorist financing. We may therefore, at any time, ask you for additional information or documents, delay, suspend or refuse a payment, and make the reports required by law to the competent authorities, in particular ANIF.

The law may prohibit us from informing you of some of these steps.

9. Liability

Kontilo has an obligation of means: it undertakes to carry out your payments diligently, in accordance with your instructions and the invoice you confirmed.

Kontilo is not liable for:

  • a delay or rejection caused by the supplier’s bank or an intermediary bank;
  • an error in the information you sent us;
  • a delay or refusal linked to our legal obligation to carry out checks;
  • a force majeure event.

Information on the site, including simulations, is given for guidance only and constitutes neither a firm offer nor financial advice.

10. Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time by writing to us, once your payments in progress are complete.

We may suspend or close an account in the event of a breach of these terms, a risk of fraud, a requirement from a partner or an authority, or at the end of the beta, with 30 days’ notice except in an emergency or where required by law. Funds due to you are returned to you, unless the law requires us to retain them.

11. Intellectual property

The Kontilo brand, the site, its texts, visuals and software are the property of Kontilo or its partners. Any reproduction without written permission is prohibited. The names and logos of our partners remain the property of their owners.

12. Changes

We may change these terms, for example at the end of the beta or when launching a new service. We will notify you by email 30 days before a significant change takes effect. If you continue to use the service after that date, you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law and complaints

A question or a complaint? Write to us first at hello@kontilo.com. We acknowledge receipt within 2 working days and reply within 15 working days.

These terms are governed by Cameroonian law and the applicable community texts (OHADA, CEMAC). Failing an amicable agreement, any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Yaoundé.
